2008 All-State Cross Country Champion

Sam Beim At its December meeting, the Bellmore-Merrick CHSD Board of Education honored Samantha Biem. After six hard years of endurance training, Samantha Biem, a Mepham High School senior, placed 19th in the Cross Country Championship to earn an All-State medal. The top 25 runners receive All-State medals. Thirty-five of her teammates braved pouring rain and a steady wind to cheer her on at the championship meet. Her coach, Mr. David Frazer, said she is incredibly well respected by her teammates. She was Bellmore-Merrick's top finisher at the state meet.

Samantha is ranked 13th in a class of 329 at Mepham, she has maintained a 96 average throughout high school while taking a host of Advanced Placement courses, including physics, her favorite class. She is also an active member of Mepham's Students Against Destructive Decisions club, recently serving as its charity walk-a-thon chairperson.

In 2009, at the Paul Limmer Inviational Samantha Beim came in second in the 3,000 run at 10:55.5
